Babydisco

The PALAIS DE TOKYO / and polimniA, with the backing of LITTLE MARC JACOBS present BABYDISCO/ A proposal from I COULD NEVER BE A DANCER — 25 SEP 08 – 04 JAN 09 — After Hotel Everland, the Palais de Tokyo has come up with another surprise in 2008 with the launch of BABYDISCO: a real nightclub intended for children. Devised by Carine Charaire and Olivier Casamayou (conception and artistic direction), with Florence Doléac (design), Guillaume Sorge of the collective dirty (music) and Yi Zhou (video), produced by the Villa Noailles (Hyères), BABYDISCO is a nightclub for 3–7-year-olds. Set up in the midst of the Palais de Tokyo's exhibition areas, it welcomes children for memorable dance sessions on Wednesdays, Saturdays and Sundays at every hour on the hour. On the program: Playlists by Guillaume Sorge (Dirty), original DJ sets, Colette Baby Dance Class, workshops with reputed choreographers, artists and musicians... FROM SEPTEMBER 2008 TO JANUARY 2009 Babydisco is a playful introduction to club land : children take possession of a reduced-scale entirely rebuilt disco, where nightclub clichés meet a childlike universe in an outsize plush jewellery box. In the scheduled one-hour long sessions, groups of 12 to 15 children take control of this completely free space, to which parents have no access, apart from a discreet glance through the door at the beginning of the session. This space is also an initiation to different forms of contemporary culture (design, video, dance and music...), and can be read in different ways i.e. from the parents' or the children's point of view. The children immediately perceive it as a ludic environment while their parents are presented with a familiar cultural reference reinvented by their children.

Confirmed guest dj's : Mickey Moonlight (TAM Corporation / Ed Banger), Nathan Wilkins (History Clock / Boombox), Pedro Winter Vs So Me (Ed Banger), Pilooski (Dirty), Jean Nipon (Institubes), Gilb'r (Versatile), Ariel Wizman, Koko Von Napoo (live !), Dirty Sound System (Dirty), Chloé (Kill the Dj), Bimbo Tower Sound System ....
